Reilly Road Presbyterian Church

A Brief History of Reilly Road Presbyterian Church

On January 26, 1986, founding pastor, Dr. Daniel Sansbury and a handful of people gathered in the “Fireplace Room” of a house donated by the McKethan family. These folks had a mission in mind. The mission was to establish a Presbyterian Church on the west side of Fayetteville.

On June 12, 1988, a ground breaking ceremony was held for a 3700 square foot sanctuary and office building, to be built by the Building Trades students of Fayetteville Technical Community College. The first worship service in the new sanctuary was held on December 3, 1989. Dedication services were held on January 28, 1990, the fourth birthday of Reilly Road Presbyterian Church, USA.

In the summer of 1991, Dr. Sansbury felt called to leave RRPC, and the church was without a permanent pastor for over 1 1/2 years.  Then on February 14, 1993, Rev. W.W. (Buddy) Olney, III was called to be a part time pastor.

September 1993 saw the opening of the Reilly Road Presbyterian Church Christian Preschool with one 3-year old class and one 4-year class.

Rev. Olney retired in June of 1998, and on February 28, 1999, our current pastor, Rev. Rogers E. Randall, Jr. preached his first sermon as pastor of Reilly Road Presbyterian Church, USA.

On January 20, 2008, a ground breaking ceremony was held for the addition of two classrooms and a restroom facility. Construction was completed in May 2008, providing much needed space for Preschool and Sunday School classrooms.
